“Start with an earthquake and build up to a climax.” DW Griffith

“Stories are at the heart of humanity and are the repository of our diverse cultural heritage. They are told, retold and reinterpreted for new times by storytellers. Screenwriters are the storytellers of our time.” European Screenwriters Manifesto (2006)

“The script is no longer a technical accessory, not a scaffolding that is taken away once the house is built, but a literary form worthy of the pen of poets.”  Béla Balázs

“Millions are to be grabbed out here and your only competition is idiots. Don’t let this get around.” Herman Mankiewicz (in Hollywood) to Ben Hecht (in New York City) the 1930s.

The Desert Screenwriters Group is composed of professional script to screenwriters, people who utilize the rules and techniques of writing a screenplay. Screenwriting is the most advanced form of dramatic writing. Whether a screenplay ever becomes a movie, it is important to realize that many successful novels and other types of writing use screenplay techniques. Our site is one of the leading sources for screenwriting information. Explore the vast number of resources on this site in a short outline tour of the site at Site Overview.
